Hello! Starting from the day of “Taian”.

Well, today(3/20) is “Taian”. I would like to start from auspicious day, so I will start from this day!

What is “大安”(Taian)?

Japanese must be heard of this “Taian”. It is said that “Taian” is auspicious day to do anything.

However, foreigners may not be familiar with this word. I like to do something important on the day of Taian, but I do not know the details, therefore, I look up the detail at the time of opening of the blog.

What is “六曜”(Rokuyou)?

There are description of the “Rokuyou” in the corner of the Japanese calendar often. Foreigners may think what the meaning is. One week seven days, like Sunday, Monday…, it is said “七曜”(Shichiyou). In contrast with “Shichiyou”, expressing fortune of the day, it is said “六曜”(Rokuyou).

Rokuyou has six kinds, there are good fortune days, bad fortune days, etc, so many people decide what to do based on “Rokuyou”. (I buy a lottery on the day of Taian surely!) Of course, there are a lot of people who do not care about such things, so I think we do not care too much.

Types of Rokuyou

Basically, it is repeated in the following order.

“先勝”

It can be pronounced as “Senshou”, “Sakikachi” and so on.
On the day of “先勝”(Senshou), it is good to hurry anything. And it is said that “Good fortune in the morning, bad fortune the time from 2pm to 6pm.”

“友引”

It can be pronounced as “Tomobiki”, “Yuin” etc.
It is said “Good fortune in the morning, bad fortune in the noon, great fortune in the evening.”

There is also a meaning of “drawing a friend when in bad”, therefore, it is better to avoid a funeral or something related.

In addition, from the meaning of Chinese Character, in the sense that we draw friends, it is a good day to be held the wedding ceremony.

“先負”

It can be pronounced as “Senpu”, “Sakimake” etc.
On the contrary of “先勝”(Senshou), “Bad fortune in the morning, good fortune in the afternoon.” It is said that it is better not to hurry anything.

“仏滅”

It can be pronounced as “Butsumetsu”.
It is considered the most unlucky day of “Rokuyou”, it is regarded as a bad day to do anything.
There are customs to avoid celebrations such as weddings.

“大安”

It can be pronounced as “Taian”, “Daian” etc.
On the contrary of “仏滅”(Butsumetsu), it is considered the most lucky day of “Rokuyou” and it is regarded as a good day to do anything.
It is said to good to make wedding celebrations, start new things, and so on.
If I would like to have a good luck, I also to choose the day of “Taian” to do.

“赤口”

It can be pronounced as “Shakkou”, “Sekiguchi”, “Akaguchi” etc.
This day is also regarded as a bad day to do anything.
It is said that “Good fortune the time from 11am to 1pm only, other time is bad fortune.”

Although each types of “Rokuyou” has its own meaning, I think we should not care too much, just think as one of the custom in Japan.
